- Minister of Health, Terrence Deyalsingh, stated that the Ministry of Health will institute the next phase of their “escalated response”, this means that certain categories of persons will be asked to self-isolate and the public health regulations will be strictly enforced.
- Minister Deyalsingh also indicated that Parliament will be looking to institute mandatory mask legislation on Friday.
- Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Roshan Parasram, stated that the status of Covid-19 in the future will be determined by the behavior of the population within the next 2 weeks. He expressed hope that there will be a decrease in daily numbers in the coming days.
- When addressing a question regarding the three (3) Venezuelan Teenagers that escaped a quarantine facility, Dr. Parasram said that the teens in question were asymptomatic for quite some time and were awaiting discharge. He indicated that there is an extremely low chance for them to infect others with the virus.
- CMO Parasram announced that a decision has been made to have persons that test positive for the virus and are presenting asymptomatic or with mild symptoms, to be quarantined in their homes. The TTPS will be involved in the monitoring of these persons and Health Officials will make checks twice a day. If their symptoms get worse, the persons in question will be hospitalized.
