- Minister of Health, Terrence Deyalsingh reminded parents to keep up the vaccination schedules of their children, despite not being required to provide immunization card for school entry. The Minister also reminded citizens to inspect their premises to ensure mosquitoes can’t breed. Minister Deyalsingh stated that these reminders were to ensure that outbreaks of other viruses/diseases don’t occur to burden the already taxed Health Care System.
- Attorney General, Faris Al-Rawi addressed concerns surrounding the new mask laws as they apply to children, he stated that according to the Children’s Act, the parent or guardian is responsible for the payment of any fines incurred by the child.
- The Attorney General also called on parents to have their children wear masks in public, regardless of age, as long as it is safe for them to do so.
- AG, Al-Rawi made an appeal to citizens to encourage one another to wear masks and call out those in defiance of the law.
- The AG when answering a question stated that no one has been charged for not wearing a mask in public yet. The TTPS has been urging citizens to comply however, once the tickets are printed and ready, there will be enforcement of the law.
- AG Al Rawi when addressing a question clarified that even if you are in a vehicle with children under the age of 8 (who are not required to wear a mask), you are still required to wear a mask.
- The Attorney General also stated that if you do not have proof on your person, that you fall in any of the reasonable excuse categories and the Police Officer doesn’t believe you, you can contest the issue in Court.
- The Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Roshan Parasram, when answering a question on testing, stated that health officials can only test what comes in to them as it is a voluntary process which people can and have refused in the past. The CMO indicated that as much viral illnesses as possible are currently being tested.
