Port-of-Spain, September 29, 2020: As part of the national drive to safeguard the health of the Trinidad and Tobago population in the face of the global COVID-19 outbreak, the Ministry of Health continues to provide up-to-date information on the country’s status in this regard. The Ministry of Health provides the following clinical update as of the morning of Tuesday, September 29, 2020:
| Number of samples submitted to the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA), the UWI and other local sites for testing for COVID-19. | 30,779 |
| Number of unique patient tests completed | 27,716 |
| Number of repeated tests | 3,063 |
| Number of samples which have tested positive at public and private facilities in Trinidad and Tobago | 4,441 |
| Total number of active cases | 1,913 |
| Number of deaths | 74 |
| Number of persons discharged from public health facilities | 1,036 |
| Number of recovered community cases | 1,418 |
The Ministry of Health provides the following update:
· 55 additional persons have tested positive for COVID -19
These new 55 new patients will be processed for admission at the discretion of the CMOHs.
· 105 persons have been discharged from public health facilities
· 74 are recovered community cases
Recovered community cases refer to persons who were previously COVID-19 positive and in self-isolation at home and subsequently met the discharge criteria and were released from self-isolation.
· The Ministry of Health regrets to inform the public that there have been 2 additional COVID-19 related deaths. Both persons are elderly males with comorbidities. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 74
