Port-of-Spain, August 28th 2020: As part of the national drive to safeguard the health of the Trinidad and Tobago population in the face of the global COVID-19 outbreak, the Ministry of Health continues to provide up-to-date information on the country’s status in this regard.

The Ministry of Health provides the following clinical update as of the morning of Friday 28th August, 2020:

The thirty-six (36) positive cases reported below show results from samples taken during the period August 20th to August 27th, 2020. Therefore, this figure is NOT representative of the positive cases over the last 24 hours only.
The Ministry of Health provides the following update:
The Ministry of Health regrets to inform the public that there are two additional COVID-19 related deaths. The persons are both elderly males with co-morbidities. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 17.
· Thirty -six (36) additional persons have tested positive for COVID -19.
A cluster of nine (9) non-nationals is included in this group. The remaining 27 persons are nationals. All established protocols have been implemented.
· Thirty-four persons have been discharged.

Six Hundred and seventy- five (675) patients have been home quarantined under the continuous monitoring of the respective County Medical Officer Health (CMOH) offices.
Forty- seven (47) patients are en-route/ being admitted to hospital
Thirty-six (36) new patients will be processed for admission.

Intensive Care Units (ICUs) are hospital wards that provide treatment for people who are very ill. They are staffed with health care professionals who are trained in ICU treatment and the use of sophisticated monitoring equipment.
High Dependency Units (HDUs) are wards for people who need more observation, treatment and nursing care than is possible in a general ward but slightly less than that given in an Intensive Care Unit.
An Ambulatory Patient is able to walk about and is not bedridden.
