Port-of-Spain, September 25, 2020: As part of the national drive to safeguard the health of the Trinidad and Tobago population in the face of the global COVID-19 outbreak, the Ministry of Health continues to provide up-to-date information on the country’s status in this regard. The Ministry of Health provides the following clinical update as of the morning of Friday September 25, 2020:
| Number of samples submitted to the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA), the UWI and other local sites for testing for COVID-19. | 30,262 |
| Number of unique patient tests completed | 27,199 |
| Number of repeated tests | 3,063 |
| Number of samples which have tested positive at public and private facilities in Trinidad and Tobago | 4,260 |
| Total number of active cases | 2,069 |
| Number of deaths | 69 |
| Number of persons discharged from public health facilities | 905 |
| Number of recovered community cases | 1,217 |
The Ministry of Health provides the following update:
· Twenty-five (25) additional persons have tested positive for COVID -19
These new 25 new patients will be processed for admission at the discretion of the CMOHs.
· Seven (7) persons have been discharged from public health facilities
· Sixty-eight (68) are recovered community cases
Recovered community cases refer to persons who were previously COVID-19 positive and in self-isolation at home and subsequently met the discharge criteria and were released from self-isolation.
· The Ministry of Health regrets to inform the public that there have been two (2) additional COVID-19 related deaths. The first is an elderly male with comorbidities and the second is a female from Tobago with pre-existing conditions. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 69.
